Kristen Stewart's odd fashion combination
Kristen Stewart's odd fashion combination - Breaking tradition at ‘Breaking Dawn’. Kristen Stewart is spotted at the "Breaking Dawn" premiere in a glam dress and sneakers. Does Bella's wedding mean she's finally grown up? Possibly, if Kristen Stewart's red carpet style at tonight's "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" premiere was any indication. For starters, the 21-year-old actress stepped out of a limo wearing sensible sneakers, before swapping them for her more spotlight-appropriate black Jimmy Choos.
There was a good reason for her initial unconventional red carpet footwear. The actress was nursing an injury so towering heels must have been a painful prospect. "I hurt it running around" while filming "Snow White and the Huntsman," she said to E! Online. According to her co-star, filming for the movie ended early on Wednesday. "It's a wrap for today. Kristen has hurt herself...nothing scary. We shoot on Friday," he said.
The actress wore the comfortable shoes while she spent time with fans and signed autographs. "It was fun. We got to really take our time," she said of the signing session. "Sometimes we're rushed and I don't know why that happens."
KStew also broke her typical red-carpet tradition—to the tune of a purple, floor-length (gasp), vampire-wedding-worthy gown designed by J. Mendel. The trendsetting star looked stunning in the shimmering, form-fitting sheath, which featured a thigh-high slit. The dress was a far cry from her usual short numbers, no slits necessary.
Stewart also sported an $18,000 Neil Lane sparkler adorned with diamonds and amethysts, set in white gold. "I just liked it," Stewart said of the ring, which she wore on her index finger as Bella does in the "Twilight"-series films.
"We loved the edginess of the ring and that we could pull out the purple from her dress," Stewart's stylist, Tara Swennen said.
And that sensational dress? "The color was a knockout against her skin and jet black hair," said Swennen. "And we loved that she could wear a gown yet still show some leg with a supersexy slit!"
Well, clearly some things stay the same. Stewart also looked simply sexy with her tasteful updo by LA hair guru Adir Abergel and those aforementioned black Jimmy Choo heels.
Until tonight, Stewart's kept her style in minimal mode, favoring her naturally gorgeous genes over ornate gowns and bling. She recently appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" wearing a simple yet sexy, fitted geometric number that played on her jaw-dropping figure and up-to-there legs. The stunner also skipped jewelry, leaving nothing to distract from her glowing, fresh skin and long hair.
Simplicity is nothing new to Stewart. At the "Eclipse" premiere last year, she wore a clean-lined white dress and bone-colored pumps—and not much else save for her easy updo and skinny gold ring. And at the recent handprint ceremony in Hollywood, her co-stars seemed to sport more hair product (and shinier shoes) than she did.
Perhaps Stewart's most complicated red carpet look to date was at the original "Twilight" premiere in 2008. There, she sported over-the-top curls (literally) and '80s-worthy blue eye shadow. Even all dolled up, though, KStew's vibe was still relatively simple, with her off-white dress and minimally glitzy jewelry.
Perhaps that's what's still the same. Floor-length gowns, thigh-high slits, and megaglam rings—or not—when it comes to Stewart's style, one tradition has stuck: Stunning.
