Selena Gomez's Puppy Baylor Is "Sick," Needs Surgery - Puppy love isn't easy. Selena Gomez's dog Baylor is in need of some TLC! On Friday, Justin Bieber's 19-year-old girlfriend tweeted that "my baby is sick" and she was "praying for his surgery."

Gomez and Bieber, 17, visited D'Arcy's Animal Rescue Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada last month and absolutely fell in love with the husky mix. The duo reportedly visited with animals for hours before deciding which pup to adopt.

"While she was in the process of filling out the papers and the normal adoption process she told us the name would be Baylor and that she's loved that name for a dog forever," the shelter's owner, D'Arcy Johnston, told Us Weekly. "I'm so happy she came in and is popularizing adopting dogs. This dog has gone from being homeless to now being in the lap of luxury."

The former Disney star isn't the only celeb to rescue an animal. Robert Pattinson recently rescued his dog, Bear, from a shelter in Baton Rouge. Although the Breaking Dawn star's pup is now a worldwide traveler with his loving owner, he was one day away from being euthanized when Pattinson, 25, gave him a forever home.

Other heroes in Hollywood who've saved animals' lives? Kelly Ripa, Kristen Bell, Oprah Winfrey, Prince Charles, Lauren Conrad and Denise Richards.

"There are so many puppies at the shelters," Richards, 40, wrote in a blog for iVillage, adding that she would "strongly encourage" others to "[adopt] from your local shelter or a rescue group instead of going to a pet store or breeder."
