Kanye West axed from Big Day Out lineup

Kanye West axed from Big Day Out lineup - Kanye West has been cut from the lineup at some Big Day Out festival venues. The rapper will no longer be performing at the Perth and Adelaide legs of the annual music event after organisers decided to make financial cuts by having just one stage. The Living End and Mariachi El Bronx have also been axed in Adelaide and the Hilltop Hoods have been cancelled in Perth.

Organisers told The ABC: "For our 20th year, we have chosen to rebuild the Perth and Adelaide events from the ground up, with a goal to recapturing the magic of early Big Day Out shows.

"We are not just moving the show to a more suitable venue, but changing the entire design. The Perth leg of the festival will also be moving to Brownes Stadium in Lathlain Park."

Fans are not being offered compensation for the cancelled acts, but can get a full refund or exchange their ticket for one of the East Coast venues, where West will still perform.

Californian hip-hop collective Odd Future were kicked off the Big Day Out lineup a few days ago after organisers received complaints from activists in New Zealand over the group's 'homophobic lyrics'.

Other acts performing at the event in January include Soundgarden, Kasabian, My Chemical Romance, Röyksopp, Nero and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
